The Relationship between Magic and The Real World

Hello, and Greetings.  I am Bauvy.
My real life name is David Lovins, but that is neither here nor there.  You can look on youtube if you really want to know more about me.  I don't know if it will be worth your time or not.
Anyways, this blog isn't about how to play the game, it's not about deck building, it's not about anything normally associated with the game of Magic The Gathering.  I'm interested in something else.
You won't find out how to trounce your opponent here.  You won't learn how to beat your enemy into a pulp by turn 5.  Those kind of things don't interest me much.
I am more intrigued by The Magic of Magic The Gathering.  I am more interested in Alternate Realities and The Relationship between Real and Fictional Worlds.

There is something that artist's and musicians use called 'The Midas Touch'.  It is that one little spark of magic they are able to produce that brings in the money.  It is a very subtle thing between 'I am doing something good but I also want to sell'.
When you are too much about the selling, people get turned off by it, because humans don't like fake and phony stuff.  Though, I guess some people like Mariah Carey...but...ugh and sigh...Okay some people like crap and they buy into the s***.
But what I am getting at is something more.

The first time I was introduced to MTG was in 1997.  I didn't know what the hell was going on with it.  No matter how they tried to explain the game to me, I couldn't get it.  I was in another place and time.  Since then, I was critical of the art work, and of the game itself, but then I started to see that, "Hey, the artwork here is pretty good, and keeps getting better."
My friend Marco The Finn really got me into the game, and I was intrigued after that.  It turned out to be an escape from the real world for an hour or two once a week.
Mostly, the game is a waste of time, but like therapy, where you don't realize the immediate effects, the long term effects are:  You will waste a lot of time, You will have fun beating your opponents into a pulp, You will find that it sucks to lose, and You Will Know Pain When You Get Your Ass Kicked.

Anyway, I will explore the world of Magic as I see it.  Most people talk about the mechanics of the game, and that stuff bores me to tears.  I approach the game as an artist with a slight sense of poetic notions is what I am getting at.
Let's suppose you see a person walking across the street.  That person could be made into a Magic Card.
Basically what I am saying is that everything you see and experience in this world can be made into a Magic card.
There is a relationship between this world and The Magic The Gathering World.
This laptop that I am typing on, well, it is an artifact.  Get it?
A car is a Goblin Tank.
     There is no end.
I am starting to see The Birth of Mythology itself by playing this game.  It is all beginning to tie in with my previous interests of Mythology, Dungeons & Dragons, and Medievalism in general.
Did you know Marcel Duchamp was a medievalist?  A little know fact, but he cared about the foundations of Modern Human Culture, and for that, he had to dig into The Magics of The Past.

I haven't worked it all out yet.  I am struggling to get all of my ideas down, but that is what I am going to do on this blog.
I hope it will be a good ride.
